Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Protests at Jadavpur University continued for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, with students demanding action over alleged attacks on their peers. The students had set a deadline of 4 PM for Vice-Chancellor Bhaskar Gupta to address their grievances, but when the deadline passed without any resolution, frustration escalated. Student organizations, alongside faculty members, took to the streets once again to express their dissatisfaction with the administration's lack of response.
The rally saw significant participation from both students and professors, all calling for immediate action to address the situation. Political parties, including the Congress and leftist student organizations, also joined the protests, expressing solidarity with the demands for justice. The protesters have stated they will continue their demonstrations until the administration meets their demands.
A student, affiliated with a leftist-supported organization, shared their frustration with the ongoing situation, stating, “We had given a deadline until 4 PM, but even after the time limit passed, no resolution was reached, which is why we have once again taken to the streets.” The unrest continues to grow, with the university administration under increasing pressure to act.
